Fishing at White Clay Creek

I have just come back from fishing at White Clay Creek, about a mile north of campus. My friend and I only spent a limited time there and still manage to catch a couple Rainbow Trout. If you are looking to for a quick get away between classes and studying, I would recommend making the short trip. We were using spinning rods and night crawlers. However, there are a couple nice areas that would be good for practicing your flyfishing skills, plus while we were there we saw a lot of fish raising to the top feeding on flies.

Are any of the fish that you catch in White Clay Creek go for eating? Do you need a permit?

Yea I went fishing down White CLay last week and caught a pretty good sized rainbow trout. I cooked up the trout and ate it for dinner It wasn't very filling but it tasted good. Have you caught any trout recently?

Hey everyone. Nate the fish are stocked in White Clay and come from fish farms so they are good to eat. Trout is a pretty boney fish so eating it can be a chore, but it is also pretty tastey. Greg, the easiest way I can explain to get there is from the University of Delaware, which I'm sure you can find on mapquest. It is right up North College Ave. which I believe actually changes names to White Clay Creek. The stream runs along side the road for awhile and there are a bunch of places where you can park and walk down and fish.

Nate, you do have to purchase a fishing license and an additional trout stamp if you want to fish for trout. You can do this at pretty much any fishing store and even some K-Marts and stuff. It costs around $15.00 total if you are a Delaware resident and about $30.00 if you are not a resident.

Hey Boss, so what do you do to prepare this delicious bass (or rainbow trout as you call it)? Salt & Pepper? or do you get fancy with cajun spices and the like? I like a lot of fish but i can't say i've ever tried trout.

I make it nice and simple. I usually grill it with a little butter, salt, pepper, and lemon. It's definitely tastey
